HUMAN SKIN PARASITES

Hair follicle mites are a normal part of the human facial fauna. They live in hair follicles feeding on oily skin secretions and skin cells. These mites cannot be felt and under normal conditions cause no symptoms. Individuals who wash infrequently and/or who have oily skin may develop large populations of these mites, which can lead to a dandruff-like condition in the eyebrows, eye lashes, beard and hairline.
